In addition to building a robot, the FIRST competition also features the Autodesk Excellence in Engineering Creativity and Communications Award in which teams submit a 30-second 3D animation of their robot in action. Though our 3D group, made up entirely of students, created an excellent animation for 1998, we were disqualified for having it in the wrong format. We look forward to being back with a vengeance in 1999. The Articles section contains stories about our 3D group and their experience from last year's competition, while the Samples section contains artwork created by our 3D group, some for the competition and some for team promotions.
